Unfortunately, this is far from the only story in the army. With situations like these, it's clear that something about military life puts our nation's veterans at risk for ALS. This terrible disease, which weakens muscles to the point of paralysis, eventually burns veterans inside their bodies - aware of what is happening, but unable to move - or even breathe - without assistance. However, while theories have floated around, no one has a definitive answer as to why.
